Thomas Langley Sr.

This foundation is dedicated to the work that Mr. Langley started more than 30yrs ago serving the community, fostering good citizenship, through the education, disipline and sportmanship.

It was Mr. Langley's purpose to develop good citizens, through the disipline and sportmanship learned in boxing. His work and dedication to the sport earned him a place within the Washington, DC Boxing Hall of Fame and a place forever in the hearts of those who knew him.

Many champions stepped into that small gym in Laurel, MD. Great fighters like Tommy Herns, Sugar Ray Leonard, Leon Spinx, you name them, and they more that likey stepped in there too. Not always to train with Mr. Langley, but to see the good things he was doing in that gym. He was building great fighters, but more importanly, he was building great people. That gym was a safe home to a lot of young people when it started.

Over that 30 year period, Mr. Langley trained some excellent fighters like Eddie Van Kirk, Percy Harris, Jake Smith, Mike Lee, Lonnie Smith, Tony Jeter and now up and coming Amelia Moore.

The gym door was always open to anyone regardless of race, religion, or money. The only catch was you would have to work hard for what you want, in the ring and in life. That was at the core of Mr. Langley's very soul, to "Keep Punching" and never give up.

Mr. Langley passed away February 16th, 2015 in his home in Laurel, MD, leaving behind a legecy of greatness. It was said of Mr. Langley that "he was not a self made man. A man that does what he did was made from god". It was also said that "it was a good thing that Mr. Langley got to these young men before they got to society".

It is comments like those, that inspired this foundation to continue Mr. Langley's work in developing champions in life and support them fighing in the ring.
